A WHOIS Domain name search is a way to look up domain name contact information. Depending on the registrar and tld (com, net, org, info, biz, us, uk) the information may vary.  Generally, name and contact information for the owner and the administrator will be displayed.  It is important that if you do a WHOIS Domain name search on your domain own name that you verify that your contact information is accurate. To use WHOIS for a domain name search, simply type in the domain name you are looking for. This domain name must be a second-level domain, for example "domain.com". Domain names with a "www" or third-level domains like "my.domain.com" are not contained within WHOIS.

Domains registered within the last 48 hours may not appear in a WHOIS domain name search.  If no contact information is displayed for a domain name that you entered you should NOT assume that the domain name is available.  To check for domain availability in real-time please go to our domain name search page.
